New Waterfront Condominium in Alexandria, VA Tops Out
Overlooking the Potomac River in Alexandria, VA’s Old Town North neighborhood, the eight-story Muse condominium has topped out and will soon be under roof. Its 73 luxury condominiums at 1201 North Royal Street are on schedule for delivery by the end of 2021.
Just steps away is the newly opened Muse sales gallery, where prospective buyers can schedule appointments to visit the sales gallery, followed by hard hat tours.
Buyers can choose from 29 unique one-to-two-bedroom-with-den floor plans, ten of which offer spacious outdoor terraces. The largest penthouse residences feature 2,200 square feet of extraordinary space. Prices start in the $800,000’s.
All Muse residences offer floor-to-ceiling operable energy-efficient windows, sleek Snaidero European flat-panel cabinetry, quartz countertops, and concealed appliances. Residents will enjoy an inviting penthouse lounge, indoor-outdoor fitness center, and rooftop terrace with fire pits and grilling stations. Friendly and welcoming “white-glove service” will include a 24-hour concierge and dedicated porter.
Art aficionados will find an inspirational home at Muse, which will include a 5,700 square foot arts space for the Alexandria Art League as well as an outdoor “art walk” with seating, lighting, and display space. All of this will be part of the newly created Alexandria Arts District, designed to bring the arts right to residents’ doorsteps.
Also at Muse’s doorstep is the popular Mount Vernon Trail, which stretches for 18 miles along the scenic Potomac River waterfront from downtown Washington to George Washington’s Mount Vernon estate. A planned linear park adjacent to Muse will expand the green space abutting the trail.
Along with a neighboring new condominium called Venue, Muse is being developed by longtime local industry leader Carr Companies. Carr is a family of companies with origins dating back to 1962 when the original company was launched by visionary Washington, DC native Oliver T. Carr, Jr. Over nearly 60 years, Carr has developed more than 11 million square feet of office, retail, hotel, and residential property.
“With two condominium communities under construction just a few blocks apart and several other properties nearby, we continue to look for opportunities to grow in the Old Town North Arts District,” said Austin Flajser, Carr Companies’ President and CEO. “We see tremendous potential in the neighborhood’s vibrant waterfront urban-suburban setting, which has fared exceptionally well during the pandemic and is poised to continue its growth in the coming years.”
Part of the area’s promising future lies in plans to demolish a nearby 72-year-old coal-fired power plant that was decommissioned in 2012. As the Alexandria city government and Pepco move forward with environmental remediation, a Chicago land developer has acquired the 20-acre site and announced plans for a large mixed-use redevelopment. Flajser predicted that demolition of the existing power plant structures could begin within a year.
Located just five miles from downtown Washington, DC, Old Town North is a dynamic, walkable neighborhood with an abundance of restaurants, shops, and cultural destinations. Muse is situated a half mile from the George Washington Memorial Parkway and a single stop light from Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport. Its location is less than a mile from Virginia Tech’s new Innovation Campus as well as Amazon’s new HQ2, which is expected to employ more than 20,000 people.
Muse was designed by SK&I Architecture of Bethesda, MD. Interior design is by ADG of Alexandria, VA. Sales are directed exclusively by The Mayhood Company of McLean, VA.
